Among the list of new things that were revealed in the Dungeons and Dragons Direct was that Neverwinter is receiving its 23rd module called Neverwinter: Dragonslayer. The new update will launch on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms this June. This update is largely inspired by Fizban’s Treasury of Dragons, the comprehensive guide to the dragons in the world of Dungeons and Dragons.

Dungeons and Dragons is no stranger to featuring dragons as antagonistic creatures in the series, and this new update will be directly tackling them. As the name suggests, the module will have players be able to become dragonslayers in Neverwinter where they hunt down and face chromatic dragons. The Neverwinter: Dragonslayer update will include plenty of new content that players in Neverwinter will be able to enjoy when it launches in June.
Regarding the story, Neverwinter’s Dragonslayer will follow the events of the Dragonbone Vale update. Valindra Shadowmantle was driven out of the Sword Coast, however, she cast a flawed version of Scaleblight Mythal that awakened many dragons to the phenomenon called dragonsight, which has twisted their motives and driven them into a wild rage. Now, heroes can aid the dragonslayers to save Sword Coast from the deadly dragons.
Neverwinter’s new update will include a new Dragon Hunt system where players can join with Smeriduk Dragonbane’s dragonslayers to face the dragons in their lairs. The Dragon Hunt system will have the option to battle various chromatic dragons of various types and ages, such as Young, Adult, and Ancient. Each type of dragon will come with its own set of challenges to face, there will be dragon lairs that can be explored, and there will be rewards players can acquire.
The Dragonslayer module will also include a complete revamp of the dragons in Neverwinter to make them look even more epic than they already did before. The revamp will give the dragons new deadly attacks, including spells and even the ability to take to the skies and fly. The new module will also come with a major content update to the fan-favorite Dungeons and Dragons “Temple of Tiamat” Trial, which has players face off against the 5-headed draconic goddess, Tiamat herself. The new update will come with new mechanics along with Normal and Master difficulty options.
Neverwinter is free-to-play on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles. Dragonslayer releases this June.
