Recently, Reeves opened up about the halted production, and how that’s allowed the director to reconsider the tone of the film. Before production was halted, The Batman had only shot about 25% of what it needed. However, Reeves is already beginning to rethink how certain things connect with the overall storyline. That includes exploring some of the “unexpected tone” that emerges while filming.

What exactly that will mean is still a mystery. The Batman’s Batsuit has been revealed, and fans know that Pattinson will be portraying a younger Bruce Wayne, but much of the narrative is still a secret. Some believe the film will be similar to Batman: Year One, but it’s still anyone’s guess.

Previous Batman films have largely been dark, though with plenty of action sequences. Todd Phillips’ Joker film also had dark themes, but was a much slower, character-driven narrative than what DC has attempted in the past. Considering that film’s success, there’s a chance The Batman will follow suit.

The Batman production is currently on hold.
