There’s some dispute over exactly how the Easter egg is unlocked in Black Ops 4, but there are two paths to doing it that seem to work so far. The example shown in the Reddit post says it’s accomplished by going five full rounds without leaving the Challenge Podium area of the map. After five rounds, the music will start playing with the start of the next round. The first person to discover the Easter egg, Zombies4EvaDude, says they spent two rounds in the Arena and then ten rounds in the Challenge Podium.

Between the two paths, the one aspect of the Zombies Easter egg that’s clear is that players have to stay on the Challenge Podium for a certain number of rounds. Five rounds seem to be the target, but it’s possible that it’s less and both players made mistakes so that their run was reset. Leaving the podium to go into the wider arena may reset progress. There’s definitely a chance that the trigger is something else entirely, though.
Players should be able to verify the new Black Ops 4 Easter egg with relative ease. Staying on the Challenge Podium isn’t necessarily an easy task, of course. Players get swarmed even in the early rounds. With some persistence, most players should be able to complete the task.
Whether or not the Easter Egg is exciting enough for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 players to check out is probably a bigger issue. The Easter egg, while interesting, isn’t anything mind-blowing. Having background music may even be seen as a detriment to the gameplay by some players. Nevertheless, it’s exciting that Black Ops 4 zombies players are still grinding and are still discovering secrets. The depth of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Zombies mode continues to impress.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
