Cobra Kai season 4 dropped Netflix on the last day of 2021, and with the show now scheduled to premiere on September 9, it would mark the shortest break in-between seasons taken so far. The previous season’s finale left Miguel heading down to Mexico after Terry Silver’s reformed Cobra Kai won the bet wagered between the protagonists and now-ousted sensei John Kreese, thus condemning the Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang dojos to step aside from the local martial arts scene.

Nevertheless, Daniel will not let Silver have his way, which is where his former enemy Chozen comes in as a new recruit who will help him and Johnny fight against the massive business plan Silver appears to have in mind for Cobra Kai. As for the kids, it seems like Johnny’s quest to find Miguel south of the border could come to an end rather quickly. Though the former champion and Robby might find themselves on the same side this time around at some point, it’s clear these to teens won’t become friends anytime soon, as shown in the waterpark scene or the latter fight.

Other notable points include Daniel and Amanda suffering from the stress the former’s karate mission is taking on their marriage. Plus, Cobra Kai’s young prospect Kenny Payne clearly gets a significant power up in his karate skills, and Johnny joins the gig economy as a poorly-rated Uber driver. While Karate Kid 3’s other villain Mike Barnes (Sean Kanan) is nowhere to be seen, despite already being a confirmed cast member, the new sensei Kim Da-Eun (Alicia Hannah-Kim) is featured quite prominently tutoring Cobra Kai’s champion, Tory Nichols.

Of course, the biggest tease from this Cobra Kai trailer comes in the last few seconds, which show John Kreese has adapted quite well to prison after being betrayed by Silver in the season finale, though it would be hardly surprising to see the disgraced sensei be exonerated during the course of the series. The adults are the ones getting the spotlight here, but most likely the series will also pack plenty of teenage drama, especially coming from the Sam, Miguel, and Robby love triangle, which is just one of many questions Cobra Kai has to address in this next chapter.

Cobra Kai season 5 will be released on September 9, 2022.
