MGM’s Creed films, which are spin-offs/sequels to the Rocky franchise, have been worthy continuations with Jordan in the lead role as Adonis, the son of Carl Weathers’ Apollo Creed. Other than reprising his titular role, Jordan will also be making his directorial debut in the upcoming film.

Collider’s Steven Weintraub shared the first official look at Creed 3 while attending the Licensing Expo in Las Vegas. While nothing too flashy, the poster easily catches one’s eye, as a bare-chested Jordan dominates the entire black and white frame, with the movie’s title and release window of November 2022 presented alongside. With a new poster released, fans can expect the first trailer to arrive very soon.

After defeating Viktor Drago in Creed 2, Adonis will have to face a new adversary by the name of Anderson Dame, played by The Harder They Fall and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania star Jonathan Majors. Jordan has the tough task of following in the footsteps of acclaimed filmmakers like Ryan Coogler and Steven Caple Jr. Each of their films was met with much praise for their revitalization of the franchise and past characters.

However, it appears the first-time director is already cooking up another worthy addition to the Creed series, as Majors has already hinted at the more personal story the upcoming film is striving to tell. Taking advice from legend Denzel Washington as well, who Jordan worked with on last year’s A Journal for Jordan, there’s a lot of hope that Jordan will deliver something fresh to the Rocky universe, even if this will be the ninth film in the long-running franchise.

The boxing drama will see Tessa Thompson and Phylicia Rashad reprise their roles as Bianca Taylor and Mary Anne Creed alongside Florian Munteanu and Wood Harris as Viktor Drago and Tony “Little Duke” Evers. Coogler and his brother Keenan worked on the story and screenplay. Creed 3 began its production in Atlanta this past January and has continued filming in California.

Creed 3 will arrive in theaters on November 23, 2022.
