Fans have already seen the likes of Superman and Batman in action in several projects, but the upcoming animated comedy DC League of Super-Pets will turn the spotlight onto their pets instead. Dwayne Johnson’s Krypto the Super-Dog is the protagonist and has been seen as his owner’s best friend in the multiple trailers for the film. It seems like he has similar powers and he is even seen flying in certain scenes and fighting crime alongside his super-powered owner. However, when a mission goes sideways, he is also ready to take charge.

The latest 30-second DC League of Super-Pets teaser is the perfect ingredient to increase the hype for the upcoming film. It begins with a focus on Krypto and Superman’s friendship, and despite being a crime-fighting superhero, the Man of Steel still has to take his pet for walks, which makes him so much more human and relatable. It is already known as part of the synopsis that Superman and the rest of the Justice League get kidnapped, and it seems like Whiskers is one of the enemies. She shows up in the teaser as the villain and even puts on a show using one of her hairballs as a bomb.
When the owners go missing, Krypto forms a team of super-powered animals to go on a rescue mission. This is perhaps where the drama comes in, as the teaser sees Krypto singing along to Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood,” while consuming a tub of ice cream and crying. While he thinks he can’t solve the problems they face, it remains to be seen what route the pets will take in the film to save the members of the Justice League.
DC League of Super-Pets was initially meant to release in May, but was pushed back to July in a shuffle of dates by DC and Warner Bros. The July 29 date was originally slated for Black Adam, another one of Johnson’s DC Comics projects, which was pushed to an October release. Apart from Johnson, the film stars John Krasinski as Superman, Keanu Reeves as Batman, Kevin Hart as Ace, Kate McKinnon as Lulu, and Diego Luna as Chip, among many others.
DC League of Super-Pets is scheduled to premiere in theaters on July 29, 2022.
